who received awards in recognition of their efforts.

Three sets of honors were announced at the April 25, 2002 awards ceremony in the Department of Physics, with photos below.
Dana Lindemann (shown below), Yong Qiu, and Michael Plaza were inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma, the physics honor society.
Brian Mischuck, Alan Poole, and Jessica Wolfing received the William Speas Award for outstanding senior physics major. This is the first time a triple award has been given.
David
Hill was named Outstanding Teaching Assistant for his dedication to the education
of our undergraduates.
The afternoon closed with research talks by the three Speas Award recipients and by Bakhit Kourmanov, our newest master's degree candidate.
