Description:

Total internal reflection allows light to travel along a lucite tube as seen above left It travels from the line of light at the bottom, through the coil and out the end at the upper left. The right picture shows the same internal reflection but in an insulated optical fiber. The fiber can be tied in a knot and light will still be seen.
