ABSTRACT
Several new teaching initiatives are in the works in the Physics and
Chemistry departments at Wake Forest. This talk will highlight their progress.
- ChemBook aims to be an online textbook suitable for a wide variety
of levels-of-student-backgrounds, while also dealing with a core of
information that incorporates features derived from student input.
- The flipped classroom has gotten much attention in our Physics
department, and there is now documentation from introductory physics
that shows its benefit to our students.
- Presenting material in 3D and virtual reality (VR) has become
common in gaming and is now working its way into education. We will
demonstrate some possibilities on our newly acquired joint CS-Physics VR system.
